Crime Prevention Research Center Our research director, Carl Moody, has a new research paper on what policies reduce mass public shootings. His conclusion? It might not surprise those who read the diaries and manifestos of these mass murderers, but it is getting rid of gun-free zones. Our new Director of Education, Kerry Slone, has an excellent op-ed piece at Townhall about why female victims of Domestic violence aren't told the best way to protect themselves. Kerry will handle our social media and media generally. It doesn’t do us any good to do research if people don’t find out about it. I have been handling this alone, but I only have so many hours in the day, which means it takes time from our research. Don't worry; I haven't been resting on the work of others! I had an op-ed at The Federalist on the media slants survey questions to push gun control. I testified before 11 state legislatures this spring, and time after time, gun control proponents point to surveys to justify the passage of gun control laws. My op-ed piece explains some obvious biases in how these surveys' wording to get the results that gun control advocates want. I did radio interviews that explained that guns are not the leading cause of children's deaths, how Biden is using bank records to find out who bought a gun, multiple shows on pistol braces (Florida's WFSX, Connecticut's WCCC, and the statewide Montana Talks Network), and Newsom's proposed rewrite of the Second Amendment (New Hampshire's WSMN, TNT Radio, Cincinnati's WLW). I also appeared on America's Voice Live television to discuss Biden's gun control claims. On Thursday, I traveled to Livingston County, Michigan, to talk to their Lincoln Day Dinner and spoke to over 400 people. This coming week Kerry Slone and I will travel to Brazil and Ecuador. After Bolsonaro liberalized Brazil's gun control laws, their new socialist president Lula banned the sale of guns, ammunition, and concealed carry. Gun control is also a major issue in the upcoming Ecuador elections in August. I also recently traveled to Nashville. A federal judge finally sentenced the stalker who murdered Nikki Goeser's husband and continued stalking her from prison. Given how much this has affected our executive director, Nikki, I felt that it was essential that I witnessed that sentencing. There are several major news events. New York City is granting far fewer concealed handgun permits after the Supreme Court's Bruen decision that was supposed to fix the problem. Biden has put thousands of gun dealers out of business with his zero-tolerance policy in 2021 and 2022. We have also continued collecting cases where people legally carrying guns in public have stopped crimes.
