Morning Jolt: The Horror in Bucha

On the menu today: I must warn you, readers, today's newsletter begins as dark and depressing as yesterday's ended. My second trip to the Kyiv suburb of Bucha brought me face to face with more survivors, who described the brutality, cruelty, and crimes of the invading Russian soldiers in unforgettable detail. Then, things took a strange turn when a man with X-Wing fighters on his shirt asked me to thank billionaire Richard Branson, and the day ended with discussions of Venezuelans fighting Russia, and the plans for a Ronald Reagan statue in Kyiv. Yes, I realize that sentence makes it sound like I've been consuming LSD. Life takes a lot of sudden and unpredictable turns in the capital city of a country at war with Russia.
