Dear Diogenes:

This was a big week for gun ownership at the Supreme Court with United States v. Hemani. Trying to follow the Bruendecision and identify similar historical laws, the government seriously argued that regular marijuana use is the modern equivalent of "habitual drunkards" at the Founding—people thought to lack self-control and therefore barred from possessing guns. That regularly taking sleep gummies constituted the same risk. My op-ed with Laura at Real Clear Politics goes through the arguments, and there is a reasonable chance this could be a real win for self-defense. But with all the news about the fighting in Iran, I wasn't able to break into the news cycle with it, but I am still very happy with this piece.

Several recent talks are also now available. I spoke at a "salon"-style dinner in Sydney, Australia, where I gave a detailed hour-and-a-half presentation on Australia's crime and gun control laws and then took a long series of questions. I also debated the usefulness of economics in understanding law at the University of Houston Law School. Unfortunately, I only received permission to share my side of the debate, but I hope it is still of interest. Finally, I gave a talk in Washington, DC on election integrity that I thought turned out very well.

I also wrote about our research on the high rate of active shootings and mass public shootings in a piece for The Federalist, which became the most-read article on their website for well over a day. I discussed in on Lars Larson's national radio show. and the Vicki McKenna Show covering Wisconsin.

There were also several more interviews from my Australia trip. I appeared on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation with Steve Austin—though the network unfortunately cut a 45-minute interview down to about twelve minutes by splicing together different answers. I also spoke with Australia's RCR Media about why fewer guns do not necessarily mean less crime, and I joined the Club Grubbery podcast.

Other television and podcast appearances compared Obama's versus Trump's record on deportations and the national drop in homicides. I also appeared on Armed American Radio to discuss my experiences in Australia.

Among interesting news is the continuing push by gun control advocates that don't want even police to have guns. There are also a couple of recent news stories about serious vote fraud with mail-in voting in California and absentee ballots in Alabama.

Over the last couple of weeks, our research has gotten wide coverage at the New York Daily News, Fox News, Epoch Times, Washington Times, the Media Research Center, MSN, and much more.

Our list of defensive gun uses by people legally carrying guns in public that got media attention illustrates 39 cases from May.

If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports.

For those who haven't already done so, if you would like to help us get the information out to others, please consider posting reviews of our website on the Google business page that we have set up. The more positive reviews people post, the more Google will feature our webpage in their searches. Thank you very much!

We need help getting our research out. It doesn't do us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much.

Again, we need your support to continue doing the work that we do. I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do. Thank you very much!
