| Dear Diogenes: We have just posted new research showing that, transgender individuals commit active shootings at rates at least 12 times higher than their share of the population—far higher than other groups. Fact-checking organizations such as PolitiFact and Snopes make a basic error: they fail to adjust for transgender individuals' share of the population. If a group makes up just 1 percent of the population but commits 10 percent of the attacks, no one would dismiss that disparity simply because the group accounts for "only" 10 percent of active shooting incidents. There is likely something different with that group. The media show strong bias on this issue, and many news outlets refuse even to report whether a murderer is transgender. Hopefully, with our new report, we can get people to discuss this issue more thoughtfully. I just returned from an extremely busy trip to Australia, where I delivered eight talks and gave nine interviews. I spoke to members of the New South Wales parliament, faculty and students at Australian National University, students at several other universities, and a range of other groups. I wish I had recorded my academic seminar at Australian National University, where I presented on how to stop active shooting attacks to about 40 professors and several graduate students. The discussion was lively, and I believe the seminar went very well. Here is the video of my talk to the students. I also completed a two-hour-and-twenty-minute interview with Turning Point Australia, the National Conservatives of Australia, and the Topher Project. We will post several additional interviews on our website soon. Democrats such as Obama, Hillary Clinton, Biden, and AOC frequently point to Australia's gun control laws as a model for the United States. Given that, I hope it is worth spending a week there to try to change the direction of the debate and helping people learn how to make convincing arguments that will save lives. One member of the state parliament for New South Wales who heard me speak when to the floor of his chamber and gave a long discussion summarizing my own talk. With the SAVE Act before the Senate, I wrote an op-ed piece for Real Clear Politics that explains how virtually the entire world requires government photo IDs to vote. On Thursday, I gave a talk in Washington, DC to a group organized by General Michael Flynn about election integrity, both around the world and the US. After publishing my op-eds in the New York Post and Real Clear Politics on Democrats using the government shutdown to rewrite immigration enforcement rules—and examining President Trump's success in enforcing immigration laws—I followed up with a series of national TV interviews. I joined Steve Bannon's War Room, appeared with Eric Bolling on Real America's Voice, and spoke on One America News. I also gave numerous radio interviews, including appearances on SiriusXM's David Webb Show, the Wayne Allyn Root Show, the Carl Jackson Show, the Bill Martinez Show, Armed American Radio, and Western Montana's KGVO. After my Wall Street Journal op-ed on Hawaii's gun-free zone case, I continued the discussion with additional radio interviews on the Lars Larson Show and again on Western Montana's KGVO. Our work has continued getting extensive news coverage in places from the New York Post to the New York Sun to the Daily Signal. In other news, a new Rasmussen Reports survey shows that Americans remain very concerned about crime. Many believe crime is getting worse, even when the data say otherwise. Many also believe that deporting illegal immigrants does not reduce crime. Clearly, we have much more work to do. Our list of defensive gun uses by people legally carrying guns in public that got media attention illustrates 39 cases from May. If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports. For those who haven't already done so, if you would like to help us get the information out to others, please consider posting reviews of our website on the Google business page that we have set up. The more positive reviews people post, the more Google will feature our webpage in their searches. Thank you very much! We need help getting our research out. It doesn't do us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much. Again, we need your support to continue doing the work that we do. I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do. Thank you very much! . Research . Op-eds . Recent Talks .
