Dear Diogenes: I appreciate all the kind comments and notes as I have been recovering. I am now out of the skilled nursing home, and I am gradually doing better. There is major news with President Trump signing an executive order on Friday, February 7th, seeking to undue all the gun control regulations enacted under Biden. It is worth reading. We have put out a couple of new research posts. The percentage of people in federal prison who are foreign citizens, removing immigration-related crimes, was 46.6%. We also did two other analyses on prisons. Data from the federal prison system shows that virtually all the deaths from COVID were for those over 60 years old, even though they make up a very small percentage of prisoners. However, prisons across the country released a wide age range of prisoners. Given all the discussion about transgender people, 15.3% of the prisoners in women's prisons are men. Biden's and Trump's pardons have generated a lot of controversy. But a piece that I had at Real Clear Investigations shows large differences between the two sets of pardons, with a two-tiered system of justice unfairly biased against Jan. 6 defendants. Another piece I had with a Wyoming state Senator in the largest newspaper explains the dangers of gun-free zones. A bill in Wyoming that has passed the state House is seeking to end the state's gun-free zones. Among the media I did was Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson to discuss the problems with the FBI's crime data (worth watching), the Dennis Prager national radio show, and the Michigan Talk Network to discuss the cost of deporting illegal aliens. We have continued our collection of television show media bias on guns. CBS's FBI has a licensed gun used in a murder, and the woman who owned it regreting that she had it, saying that she never would have used it in self-defense. In another older show from a decade ago, the main character said that he doesn't want guns in his apartment. There have been a lot of news items over the last couple of weeks: a mass public shooting in Sweden that resulted in ten people murdered despite its strict gun control laws, and illegal aliens have between 225,000 to 250,000 anchor babies in the US. I have moved to Salt Lake City. Our new address is Crime Prevention Research Center, 358 S 700 E, Ste B, B409, Salt Lake City, UT 84102. We have updated our list of defensive gun uses by people legally carrying concealed handguns for November 2024. For fun, I asked ChatGPT and Grok2 to summarize my research in "More Guns, Less Crime." If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports. We need help getting our research out. It doesn't us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much. We need your support to continue doing the work that we do. Our end of the year donations are I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do. Thank you very much. . Research . Op-eds .
