| Dear Friend, We're thrilled to announce the National Review Post-Election Cruise, taking place November 13-20, 2016, on Holland America Line's beautiful Nieuw Amsterdam, sailing to and from Ft. Lauderdale and visiting the beautiful Caribbean ports of Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Key West, and Half Moon Cay. The terrific speaker lineup -- there to make sense of the elections and so much more -- will include acclaimed historian Victor Davis Hanson, former Congressman Allen West, terrorism and defense experts Bing West, Andrew McCarthy, and John Hillen, Independent Women's Forum chairman Heather Higgins, conservative icon James Buckley, best-selling author Steven Hayward, Americans United for Life president Charmaine Yoest, conservative legal expert Ed Whelan, NRO editor-at-large Kathryn Lopez, Commentary editor John Podhoretz, former NR Washington Editor and WFB expert Neal Freeman, NR senior editors Jonah Goldberg, Jay Nordlinger, and Ramesh Ponnuru, NR essayists David French, Charles C. W. Cooke, Kevin D. Williamson, and Reihan Salam, NR Washington Editor Eliana Johnson, NR columnists Rob Long and James Lileks, and ace reporters Jim Geraghty, John J. Miller, and Jillian K. Melchior. And we'll be naming more speakers soon. Prices start at $1,999 a person, and if you sign up by February 15th, you'll receive a $100 per person early-booking discount. There's a cabin for every taste and budget, but no matter the size and luxury of your stateroom, anyone attending has complete access to all of National Reviews exclusive (enjoyable!) events, which include • 8 scintillating seminars featuring NR's editors and guest speakers; • 2 fun-filled "Night Owl" sessions; • 3 revelrous pool-side cocktail receptions; • 1 late-night "smoker" featuring world-class H. Upmann cigars; • 2 nights (at least) of intimate dining at tables hosted by our guest speakers and editors. Hey, are you single and worried you will be some sort of fifth wheel, an exception in a sea of couples? Worry not: Nearly a third of all NR Cruise attendees travel solo. And whether they're single or part of a couple, the fact is the people in our contingent are smart, inviting, and very friendly. I absolutely assure you that you will have a terrific time. Visit www.nrcruise.com for complete information about the trip and to reserve your cabin securely. If you'd like to discuss the cruise, feel free to contact me at jfowler@nationalreview.com. I look forward to seeing you on the Nieuw Amsterdam in November. Sincerely, Jack Fowler Publisher National Review P.S.: If you have always wanted to come on an NR cruise but have just not been able to take the plunge -- an expression we don't normally use when discussing cruise ships! -- make this cruise the one. You will not regret the choice.

A left-wing writer and racial-justice activist who has claimed that American society was "instituted by racist ideas and maintained by racist policies" published a black history book for kids earlier this year that appears to be filled with content plagiarized from other sources, according to a review of the book by National Review . Confronted with the apparent plagiarism, the book’s publisher said it would be pulled from circulation pending an investigation. Rann Miller, a New Jersey-based activist and educator, published Resistance Stories from Black History for Kids in March. According to the book, it is designed to be a "place of entry" into the history of the African people so readers will be "empowered to fight" injustices in the world.
