| Dear Diogenes: Happy New Year! I hope you all have a great year! We will soon have some more new important research to show you. My New York Post piece last week shows that illegal aliens in New York State are incarcerated at a rate at least 3.4 times their share of the state's population. The article drew television coverage on Real America's Voice's Stinchfield Tonight and The Andrew Branca Show. I also discussed the findings on radio programs including The Lars Larson Show, Cincinnati powerhouse WLW, Utah's KNRS, and Armed American Radio. By the way, new data shows that 70% of illegal aliens who have been deported by the Trump administration were either convicted or charged with crimes. The debate over Australia's gun control laws after the mass public shooting at Bondi Beach continues. For those who claim that Australia's gun control laws have produced a crime-free nirvana, CPRC senior fellow and Australian academic Kesten Green and I examined the data. In 2024, surveys show a U.S. violent victimization rate of 23.3 per 1,000 people, compared with 39 per 1,000 in Australia for respondents who suffered "one or more selected personal crimes." Because of differences in how the two countries measure crime, Australia's 67 percent higher victimization rate actually understates the true gap between Australian and American crime victimization. I have also continued to do media because of my op-eds on the Australia massacre, including Ringside Politics, the statewide Montana Talks Network, the Krieger Files, Bob Frantz's Strictly Speaking, Utah's KNRS, and Cincinnati's WLW. On January 20, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Hawaii's gun-free zones, a case that could significantly reduce the number of gun-free zones nationwide. Gun-control advocates argue in amicus briefs that retailers such as Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, Costco, and Target generally prohibit permitted concealed carry. That claim is simply false. None of these companies maintains a policy of posting "no concealed carry" signs in states where they have the option to do so. I had fun hosting KNRS's Gun Radio Utah for the last Saturday in 2025, and it was a lot of fun. Our list of defensive gun uses by people legally carrying guns in public that got media attention illustrates 26 cases from April. If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports. For those who haven't already done so, if you would like to help us get the information out to others, please consider posting reviews of our website on the Google business page that we have set up. The more positive reviews people post, the more Google will feature our webpage in their searches. Thank you very much! We need help getting our research out. It doesn't do us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much. Again, we need your support to continue doing the work that we do. I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do. Thank you very much! . Research . Op-eds . Recent Talks .
