| Dear Diogenes: This week I did a debate at the University of Connecticut Law School on Tuesday and gave a talk to a group of business people near Philadelphia on Wednesday as well as a talk to a class at the University of Pennsylvania Law School on Thursday. The talks covered whether guns make people safer, errors in the FBI's crime and active shooting data, and how gun control laws harm minorities and the poor. Unfortunately, I don't have recordings of those presentations, but I do have PowerPoints available for two of my talks. We released a couple of new reports this past week. Because of the persistent false claim that guns are the leading cause of death among children, we updated our analysis using the latest 2023 CDC data. That claim rests on the flawed assumption that removing guns would prevent those deaths. As we've shown repeatedly, when guns are banned, murders actually increase and total suicides remain unchanged. Another report we did highlighted the steep decline in the murder arrest rate over the past six decades. In 1965, police made arrests in 91 percent of murder cases; by 2024, that rate had dropped to just 52 percent. An astonishing large drop in arrest rates. By the next email blast, I plan to update our research on armed teachers and school shootings. Over the past couple of weeks, I've appeared on several television programs to discuss the FBI's errors in active-shooter data and how their reported crime trends sharply diverge from overall total crime changes. Those appearances included Real Clear Politics' Miller Report, America's Voice Live with Steve Gruber, Stinchfield Tonight on Real America's Voice, and One America News. I also joined several radio programs, including Rich Valdés America At Night, The Sunday Night with Bill Cunningham Show, KLZ's Rush to Reason, 700 WLW's Midweek Crisis, Western Montana's KGVO, and The Vic Porcelli Show. In addition, I appeared on The Bob Frantz Show to address the false claim that most extremist murders are committed by right-wingers. Our work has gotten media coverage in the New York Post, Instapundit, MSN, the American Thinker, and more. Here is also an interview that I did with the media in Argentina. A new report by moderate Democrats quantifies how far to the left Democrats have moved on the gun issue in just a decade and claims to provide evidence that has hurt Democrats who are running for office. A shooting attack at Oklahoma State University occurred in yet another gun-free zone (big surprise). Florida's largest grocery store chain, Publix, will allow people to openly carry guns in their stores. A new Rasmussen Reports survey finds most likely voters approve of Trump finding and deporting illegal aliens. If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports. For those who haven't already done so, if you would like to help us get the information out to others, please consider posting reviews of our website on the Google business page that we have set up. The more positive reviews people post, the more Google will feature our webpage in their searches. Thank you very much! We need help getting our research out. It doesn't do us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much. We need your support to continue doing the work that we do. I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do.
