Today's recommended read comes from my colleague Maggie Fick, who writes about how AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot maneuvered to shield his Anglo-Swedish company from threatened steep tariffs on imports to the world's largest pharmaceuticals market.

Sources close to the negotiations told Reuters that Friday's medicine deal between AstraZeneca and the US government was the result of public and private meetings between Soriot and Trump officials, stretching back to November last year when Trump won the election.
