| Dear Diogenes: For those in Knoxville this coming Sunday, I will give a brief talk (starting at 1:24 PM) and a book signing (at noon on Sunday at the GOA booth) at the Knoxville Convention Center. I hope to see you there. We have some shocking interesting numbers on the interracial violent crime rates. For example, blacks committed violent crime against Asians 88.9 times more than the reverse is true. Two different op-eds that I wrote last week dealt with the dangers of gun-free zones. The piece at Real Clear Politics contrasted the Michigan Walmart knife attack stopped by a concealed handgun permit with the mass public shooting in New York City, where less than 0.1% of adults have a concealed handgun permit, and there are few places where even those few people can carry it. An eyewitness to the Michigan attack described how others who had tried to stop the attacker were stabbed, but it took the Marine veteran with a gun to stop the attack. I discussed that piece on television with Real America's Voice and radio on Cleveland's Strictly with Bob Frantz, New York's WNYM, Utah's Gun Radio, Wisconsin's Vicki McKenna Show, Philadelphia's WAEB, South Florida's Trey Radel Show, Armed American Radio, and Oregon's KMED. After the New York mass public shooting, Fox News The Five's Greg Gutfeld and Fox News Outnumbered's Lisa Boothe reached out to me, and they used the information that I gave them on their shows. You can see Greg reading from notes, and it is information that I sent him. Another article at The Federalist warns of the dangers of gun-free zones at military bases. It explains why the penalties put on soldiers who carry guns on military bases just ensures that someone who wants to kill others will have a gun, but the rules will disarm good soldiers who will follow the rules. My piece on the political biases of AI chatbots against private ownership of guns has continued to get attention. I appeared on a lot of radio shows, including: Wisconsin's Vicki McKenna Show, Iowa's Simon Conway, Philadelphia's WPHT, Chicago's WIND (twice also here), Oregon's KMED, Cleveland's WHK-AM, and Philly's WAEB. Another piece on providing evidence on criminals fearing the death penalty got me on some radio shows: Oklahoma's KQOB, WFSX-FM in Fort Myers-Naples, and Chicago's WIND. Our work on gun control and crime by illegal aliens has gotten a lot of coverage on NewsMax, the Victor Davis Hanson Show, the Washington Times, and much more. As you all know, I am an economist who has held research or teaching positions that I have had at universities such as Wharton, University of Chicago, Stanford, Yale, and UCLA. Every once in a while, I write an op-ed that deals with more purely economics issues, and the New York Post published a piece that I had on Trump's tariff policies. The common complaint against tariffs is that they discourage trade, distort production, and reduce growth. All true. But every tax, including sales taxes and income taxes, creates these distortions. An argument against tariffs based on those points applies against all taxes. Yet, no matter how much we want to eliminate taxes, I explain that the goal should be to set up these different taxes to minimize the disincentives produced by all taxes. There are some interesting news stories. Sydney Sweeney, the blond, blue-eyed, gorgeous woman who made leftist heads explode with her jeans ("genes") ad, is the new face of sports shooting. So the few leftist heads that hadn't already exploded will do so now. Here is a video illustrating one danger of openly carrying a handgun, at least one that isn't tied down. Here is another example of a concealed handgun holder stopping what clearly would have been a mass public shooting in Chicago. We have updated our list of defensive gun uses by people legally carrying concealed handguns for January 2025. If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports. For those who haven't already done so, if you would like to help us get the information out to others, please consider posting reviews of our website on the Google business page that we have set up. The more reviews people post, the more Google will feature our webpage in their searches. Thank you. We need help getting our research out. It doesn't do us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much. We need your support to continue doing the work that we do. I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do.
