Supreme Court allows Trump to resume Education Department layoffs . . . The Supreme Court on Monday allowed President Trump to resume efforts to dismantle the Department of Education in an apparent 6-3 vote along ideological lines, lifting a judge's order to reinstate hundreds of employees terminated in mass layoffs. The administration's victory enables the president to move closer to fulfilling of one of his major campaign promises to oversee the elimination of the Education Department. Since entering office, the administration has sought to lay off half of the Education Department's workforce and move some of the agency's core functions, such as managing student loans, to other federal departments. Trump sets 50-day deadline for Russia-Ukraine deal . . . President Donald Trump has promised to impose 100% tariffs on countries trading with Russia if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree to peace with Ukraine in 50 days. "I'm disappointed in President Putin because I thought we would have had a deal two months ago, but it doesn't seem to get there," Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday. "So, based on that, we're going to be doing secondary tariffs. If we don't have a deal in 50 days, it's very simple, and they'll be at 100%." Washington Examiner

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is back at work as President Trump tries to stave off an ongoing MAGA revolt over the infamous "Epstein files." Bongino failed to show up to work on Friday and threatened to resign after clashing with Attorney General Pam Bondi in the White House over her handling of the case. Now, Bongino has reportedly returned to the bureau—but his long-term future in the Trump administration remains uncertain. Phil Murphy (D) was issued a subpoena over comments he made in February, implying that he was sheltering an illegal alien in his home, according to a New York Times report. Several people "with knowledge of the matter" told the outlet that U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba was "pursuing an investigation" into Murphy's comments. Breitbart

Andrew Cuomo to stay in race for New York mayor . . . Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo revealed Monday that he will remain in the New York mayor's race as an independent. Cuomo joins a crowded field including socialist Zohran Mamdani, who beat him soundly in the June Democratic primary, incumbent Eric Adams, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. Cuomo will run with a caveat: If he is not the highest-ranked challenger to Mamdani by early September, he will drop out of the race in favor of whoever is and ask other candidates to do so as well. Omar Fateh, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist and the first Somali American and Muslim to serve in the Minnesota Senate, is running for mayor of Minneapolis on a platform of pro-illegal immigration, anti-police, and anti-Israel policies. Fateh (D) once accused Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) of white supremacy for opposing taxpayer-funded college for illegal aliens. He has advanced far-left legislation, including a proposal to provide free college tuition to households earning under $80,000 a year, regardless of their documentation status. Breitbart

"The Department of Justice will lead the effort to codify the President's Executive Order and eliminate wasteful virtue-signaling policies across government agencies to promote assimilation over division," Bondi said. ICE memo reveals Trump's plan to scrap bond hearings to keep millions of illegal migrants locked up . . . Millions of migrants who entered the United States illegally will be forced to remain behind bars while their deportation proceedings continue for months or even years under a new Trump administration policy. The acting director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Todd M. Lyons, told agents in a July 8 memo that migrants will no longer be eligible for a bond hearing and should be detained 'for the duration of their removal proceedings.' Daily Mail
Trump Administration Sets Deportation Record . . . During President Barack Obama's eight years in the White House, about 3 million illegal aliens were deported from the U.S., with the highest number of removals in fiscal year 2013 at 432,334, averaging more than 36,000 a month. Between being sworn in on Jan. 20 and June 30, more than 239,000 illegal aliens have been deported under President Donald Trump, according to Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary. World's 'oldest' marathoner dies at 114 in hit-and-run . . . Fauja Singh, a British-Indian man believed to be the world's oldest marathon runner, has died after being hit by a car in India at the age of 114. Police say Singh was crossing a road in the village where he was born in Punjab when an unidentified vehicle hit him. Locals took him to hospital, where he died. Singh, a global icon, set records by running marathons across multiple age categories, including when he was over 100. He began running at 89 and ran nine full marathons between 2000 and 2013, when he retired. BBC

Cory Mills (R-FL) will be evicted from his Washington, D.C., apartment after failing to pay several months' rent, records show. Mills's landlord filed papers in court to evict him after alleging he failed to pay $85,000 in rent since March. According to the landlord's ledger, Mills had been paying his monthly rent 18 times late, and he's paid over $850 in late fees over the course of his stay.
