Trump Reaches Historic Trade Deal with EU: Europe to Buy $750 Billion in U.S. Energy . . . President Donald Trump announced a sweeping trade agreement with the European Union on Sunday, setting a baseline 15 percent tariff on European imports — including automobiles — while keeping existing 50 percent duties on steel and aluminum in place. As part of the deal, the EU committed to purchasing $750 billion in U.S. energy products. The EU will purchase three-quarters of a trillion dollars in U.S. energy, while also investing $600 billion into America on top of existing investments. Additionally, EU countries will be setting tariffs on U.S. goods at zero percent, and Europe agreed "to purchase a vast amount of military equipment," Trump said. Breitbart

A lawyer who worked closely with Obama-era Attorney General Eric Holder now works in President Donald Trump's administration as an ostensibly nonpolitical staffer at the Justice Department. Biden appointed Thomas as a political appointee in September 2021 to serve as senior counsel in the Office of Legal Policy at the Justice Department. She transitioned to a career role as assistant U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., also in the Justice Department. OPM approved the transition on Aug. 11. Daily Signal

The Supreme Court issued its ruling limiting nationwide injunctions in a case about President Donald Trump's birthright citizenship order a month ago, but courts are still finding ways to issue sweeping injunctions. Since the Supreme Court restricted lower courts' reliance on universal injunctions, for example, opponents of the birthright citizenship order have increasingly turned to class action certification. Under Siege From Trump and Musk, a Top Liberal Group Falls Into Crisis . . . Media Matters, a nonprofit group that has played a key role in liberal politics, is struggling to withstand months of legal assaults by President Trump's allies. The organization, which is funded by some of the Democratic Party's biggest donors, has racked up about $15 million in legal fees over the past 20 months to defend itself against lawsuits by Elon Musk, in addition to investigations by Mr. Trump's Federal Trade Commission and Republican state attorneys general. "House Republicans insist upon the release of all credible evidence and information related to Epstein in any way. Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino said on X Saturday that he'll "never be the same" after recent things he has learned. "During my tenure here as the Deputy Director of the FBI, I have repeatedly relayed to you that things are happening that might not be immediately visible, but they are happening," Bongino said in his post.
