Dear Diogenes: The legacy news media is pushing more public health bogus research. Did you see the news stories in the New York Times and other places over the last week that children's firearm deaths increased in states with lax gun control laws after the Supreme Court's McDonald v Chicago decision? The research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics is one of the most flawed studies I have seen, and you can see my breakdown of some of its problems here. Another recent public health survey that got a lot of attention in the New York Times and other places is that some 18 million Americans have been present at mass shootings. The problem is that they present their claims in a way that makes it impossible to compare their survey results to any hard crime data. So, we hired McLaughlin & Associates and revised the survey to facilitate comparisons, and guess what? We showed that their number was off by at least 71 times! We have also written up a response, which we have submitted to the medical journal. A series of interviews discussed my recent piece at Real Clear Politics on crime committed by illegal aliens. That included John Solomon Reports, Cincinnati's giant WLW, Strictly Speaking with Bob Frantz, and Oklahoma's KQQB. Other interviews that I did on Tom Grisham's Gun Talk radio and Gun Radio Utah reviewed our new research comparing how armed civilians compare to police in stopping active shooting attacks. An op-ed at The Federalist explains my research on how Biden's efforts to force DEI hiring and promotion policies on police and fire departments made communities less safe. Democrat Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut held a press conference with other Democrats on Thursday claiming that suppressors make Mass Public Shootings more deadly, make it so "no one will be able to hear the gunshots," and "silencers are the tools of killers, they are the tools of criminals." I go through each of his claims showing they are totally false. Twice a year, I ask you all for your support. When Trump won in 2016, our donations dried up during the first year of his presidency. Possibly, people think that the battle has been won. We are experiencing a similar significant drop-off in donations this year, and we could really use your support. I hope you agree that there is no other group that does the work that we do and that for our budget of a few hundred thousand dollars a year, there is no other organization that produces as much work per dollar donated to us. I have secured a matching $10,000 donation for the first $10,000 we raise. If you could help, it would be extremely important for the work we need to do. Thank you. In another post, I explain how the Supreme Court decision stopping Mexico's Lawsuit against Smith & Wesson was helpful, but that it was only a limited win and that it still leaves a giant loophole for gun control activists to bankrupt gun makers and sellers. You might have missed it, but there was a school shooting this past week in Austria that left at least ten people dead despite the strict gun control licensing laws in Austria. On the bright side, CitiGroup reversed course and will no longer block banking services for retailers who sell firearms to people under 21. Our research has garnered attention in a couple of articles in The New York Sun, as well as in the National Police Association, Instapundit, and other outlets. We have updated our list of defensive gun uses by people legally carrying concealed handguns for January 2025. If you haven't already seen it, please watch our new video with John Stossel, which covers our new research showing errors in the FBI's active shooting reports. For those who haven't already done so, if you would like to help us get the information out to others, please consider posting reviews of our website on the Google business page that we have set up. The more reviews people post, the more Google will feature our webpage in their searches. Thank you. We need help getting our research out. It doesn't do us any good to do all this work if people don't see it. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much. We need your support to continue doing the work that we do. I don't think that there is any organization with as small of a budget that regularly produces as much as we do.
