I am pleased to introduce Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis as recipients of the 2025 William F. Buckley Jr. Prize for Leadership in Political Thought.
This is a historic award, as Governor DeSantis is the first person in elected office to receive the Buckley Prize. He joins Senator James L. Buckley being one of two recipients to ever have been elected to state-wide office. This distinction underscores the rare combination of philosophical depth and practical governance that has not only benefited every Floridian but has created a model of conservative governance for the entire nation.
Throughout their careers, Governor and First Lady DeSantis have consistently championed the free market, limited government, constitutional fidelity, and traditional values. Their leadership has influenced a generation of conservative thinkers, while their commitment to common-sense reform demonstrates how conservative principles can be effectively translated into policy that benefits all Americans, especially those in the great state of Florida, where we will be gathering on November 5.
Their leadership demonstrates that applying conservative principle to today's challenges will not only be successful but prove to be a beacon that attracts Americans across the country. Their advocacy for conservative values has enabled Florida to achieve wins on issues ranging from protecting citizens from illegal immigration to expanding school choice, promoting public safety to keeping Florida's economy strong.
On November 5, 2025, we'll gather in Palm Beach to honor the DeSantises' extraordinary contributions to the conservative movement. This once-in-a-century celebration offers you the opportunity to: |
- Connect with fellow defenders of liberty
- Engage with National Review's editorial leadership
- Be part of a historic tribute to conservative excellence
