Israel approves plan to occupy Gaza, drastically scale up military offensive against Hamas . . . Israel has approved a new plan to drastically ramp up its military offensive against Hamas — including seizing the whole of Gaza and holding its territories, officials said Monday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet approved the new war plans in an early morning vote just hours after the Israeli military chief said the army was calling up tens of thousands of reserve soldiers in a bid to defeat the terrorist group. The plan would be gradual and take months, and involves powerful strikes against Hamas targets. New York Post

Trump mentions Vance, Rubio when asked about a successor . . . "Well, I — it's far too early to say that. But you know, I do have a vice president, and typically — and JD's doing a fantastic job," Trump said. During an interview on Meet the Press. "He would be at the top of the list?" Welker pressed. "It could very well be," Trump replied. "I don't want to get involved in that. I think he's a fantastic, brilliant guy. Marco is great. There's a lot of them that are great." Daily Wire
Trump most likely is not serious about a third term. I don't think he wants to spend the rest of his life as president. Unlike many politicians, such as Joe Biden, he actually has other interests and things going on in his life. Much of the "third term" talk is probably ego gratification, teasing the press, and, most importantly, an effort to avoid becoming a lame duck.
How Many Biden Appointees 'Burrowed in' to the Permanent Bureaucracy? . . . Left-leaning federal bureaucrats aim to oppose President Donald Trump from within the administrative state, and some Biden administration appointees have attempted to "burrow in" to the federal bureaucracy by switching from "political" to more permanent "career" positions. "The biggest challenge that every single new Cabinet secretary and their subordinates will face is the entrenched bureaucrat," said Stewart Whitson, senior director of federal affairs at the Foundation for Government Accountability. Trump Will Start Nominating Federal Judges 'Rapidly,' He Says . . . President Donald Trump will nominate federal judges "rapidly," he told The Daily Signal on Sunday night. "We're putting them in rapidly and trying to get very good ones, but we need judges that are not going to be demanding trials for every single illegal immigrant," Trump said on Air Force One. "We have millions of people that have come here illegally, and we can't have a trial for every single person, that would be millions of trials." Trump is off to a slower start in nominating judges than his first term, having only nominated one federal judge. Daily Signal
Trump announces 100% tariff on all foreign-produced movies . . . President Donald Trump decried the state of the motion picture industry in a social media post on Sunday while announcing plans to implement a Hollywood-related tariff. In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump wrote that the "Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death." "Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States," Trump claimed. "Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated." Fox News

Trump blasts Mexico's Sheinbaum for rejecting offer to send US troops into Mexico to fight cartels . . . President Donald Trump on Sunday said Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum rejected his proposal to send U.S. troops to Mexico to help thwart the illegal drug trade because she is fearful of the country's powerful cartels. The comments by Trump came a day after Sheinbaum confirmed that Trump pressed her in a call last month to accept a bigger role for the U.S. military in combating drug cartels in Mexico. "Well she's so afraid of the cartels she can't walk," Trump said in comments to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday. Associated Press

Buffett quits as Berkshire Hathaway chief. Kind of . . . Billionaire Warren Buffett will remain with Berkshire Hathaway as chairman of the board when vice chairman Greg Abel takes over as CEO to begin 2026. The board of directors at the cash-rich conglomerate voted Sunday to keep the legendary 94-year-old investor as head of the board, a decision likely to relieve investors worried about Berkshire's remarkable winning streak as the U.S. The board in the same meeting also approved Buffett's chosen successor as CEO, veteran Berkshire executive Greg Abel, 62. In a surprise announcement Saturday, Buffett said he would step down from that top spot at the end of the year. Associated Press

"Well, you know, it wasn't good," the cardinal added when asked whether he was offended by the post. The Hill

The drugs were smuggled by sea from South America and then on a trailer through Sweden, though they were probably not intended for the Norwegian market. Breitbart
