REUTERS/Alexandre Dimou Mass rape trial A French court found all 51 defendants guilty in a drugging-and-rape case that horrified the world and transformed the victim, Gisele Pelicot, into a symbol of courage and resilience. Her ex-husband of 50 years, Dominique Pelicot, was sentenced to the maximum 20 years in jail, as requested by prosecutors.  On today's Reuters World News podcast, Correspondent Juliette Jabkhiro weighs in on the trial and explains how the case has spurred changes in medical practices for women who suspect they have been the victims of drug-facilitated assault. South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol is willing to represent himself during legal proceedings, a lawyer said. Business & Markets   The Bank of Japan kept interest rates unchanged earlier today and its governor offered few clues on how soon it could push up borrowing costs, sending the yen and bond yields tumbling on fresh doubts over the near-term chances of a rate hike. Meanwhile, the Bank of England kept its main interest rate unchanged at 4.75%, but policymakers became more divided about whether rate cuts were needed to tackle a slowing economy. The decisions from the BOJ and BoE come a day after the US central bank cut interest rates, as expected. But Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said more reductions in borrowing costs now hinge on further progress in lowering stubbornly high inflation.
