Comer subpoenas Mayorkas as investigation into Walz-China ties amps up . . . In a subpoena, committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said a whistleblower claimed there is a group chat among Department of Homeland Security employees that "contains information about Governor Walz that is relevant to the Committee's investigation." "If a state governor and major political party's nominee for Vice President of the United States has been a witting or unwitting participant in the CCP's efforts to weaken our nation, this would strongly suggest that there are alarming weaknesses in the federal government's effort to defend the United States from the CCP's political warfare," Comer wrote. Washington Examiner
Finally someone is seriously investigating ties to China by a man who could be president and has been there at least 15 times.
Walz Said He Was in Hong Kong During the Tiananmen Square Massacre. He Was Home in Nebraska . . . At a 2014 congressional hearing held to mark the 25th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, Tim Walz, then a congressman representing Minnesota's first district, recalled being in Hong Kong when the Chinese Communist Party crushed the student protests on June 4 of that year. In reality, local news reports show that Walz was at home in Nebraska in May and June of 1989. He wouldn't depart for China until August. Washington Free Beacon
Aww, he's such a fibber that guy! Will the CBS "fact checkers" be watching him tonight during the debate?
Dems privately worry how Walz will fare against Vance in VP debate . . . Some Minnesota Democrats wonder how Walz will handle the barrage of attacks from Vance, given the governor's tendency to shut down conversations when he's pressed about missteps in private. Behind closed doors, the folksy, fun-loving governor, can be overly defensive when confronted about his mistakes, according to fellow Minnesota Democrats. During his first campaign in 2006, he also developed a reputation for speaking so quickly that an ally characterized him as "a bit manic." Politico
Republican challenger opens lead over Democrat Sherrod Brown in Ohio's U.S. Senate race
JD Vance doesn't think he needs too much debate prep to defeat Tim Walz . . . "We have well developed views on public policy so we don't have to prepare that much," Vance said in a Teamsters press call on Wednesday morning. "We feel a lot more confident and frankly, you don't have to prepare if you don't have to hide what you say." His statement was in many ways exactly why Republicans — and especially Trump — continue to support him: He's pithy, plainspoken and gets spirited with the media. And unlike Trump, he stays relentlessly on message and is known as an agile debater. Politico
Latino support for Trump grows as crucial voting bloc worries over economy
Musk: Voting for Trump 'only way' to 'save' democracy . . . Musk outlined a theory whereby Democrats, he said, are expediting the process for residents who immigrated illegally to the U.S. to become citizens and gain legal voter status. "Let me explain: if even 1 in 20 illegals become citizens per year, something that the Democrats are expediting as fast as humanly possible, that would be about 2 million new legal voters in 4 years," Musk wrote. "The voting margin in the swing states is often less than 20 thousand votes. That means if the 'Democratic' Party succeeds, there will be no more swing states!!" The Hill

Babylon Bee sues California over new laws cracking down on satire . . . The Babylon Bee, a website that skewers liberals, filed a lawsuit Monday challenging California's new anti-satire laws, saying Gov. Gavin Newsom is trying to take the fun out of politics. One law forbids posting or sharing online "deceptive" content that harms a candidate's "electoral prospects" ahead of an election, while another prods social media companies to police their platforms for anything that would run afoul of the new standard. Those who want to practice political satire — an area where Babylon Bee has few rivals — must attach a sort of product warning label which, The Bee says, effectively destroys the point of the satire. This is where the "crackdown" on "misinformation" leads. Censorship. In America.
Judge Strikes Down Georgia's Six Week Abortion Ban . . . The Fulton County superior court judge called the six week ban "arbitrary" and ruled that "liberty" in Georgia includes "the power of a woman to control her own body, to decide what happens to it and in it, and to reject state interference with her healthcare choices. With the ban struck down, abortions are now legal up to viability, usually considered around 22 weeks of pregnancy, although younger babies have survived outside the womb. Daily Wire

Walid Phares, a leading expert on Hezbollah and Lebanon, told Fox News Digital that Hezbollah has "committed ethnic cleansing" in Syria. He said Hezbollah "was behind the uprooting of millions of Syrians, of all communities, mainly Sunni. They have perpetrated rape." Fox News

US East Coast dockworkers strike, halting half the nation's ocean shipping . . . Dockworkers on the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast began a strike early on Tuesday, their first large-scale stoppage in nearly 50 years, halting the flow of about half the nation's ocean shipping after negotiations for a new labor contract broke down over wages. The strike blocks everything from food to automobile shipments across dozens of ports from Maine to Texas, in a disruption analysts warned will cost the economy billions of dollars a day, threaten jobs, and potentially stoke inflation. This can only hurt Harris. Oddly, it's not clear Biden did much to prevent it.
How Harris Could Still Stop Fracking Without Banning Fracking . . . Kamala could leave America's oil and gas industry perfectly free to submit Applications for Permits to Drill. But these permit applications could stretch from 30 to 100 pages now to, say, 300 pages under Harris-Walz. Kamala could hike today's $12,515 filing fee per permit applications to $50,000—more than quadruple. Each application could traverse other agencies and even Cabinet departments, to double check and confirm that everything is hunky-dory. America cannot be too careful. The Justice Department could certify that no fracker ever has faced a federal criminal indictment, conviction, or U.S. civil complaint. Daily Signal
