REUTERS/Florion Goga War in Gaza Municipal services in several Israeli districts were disrupted today after the country's biggest labor union launched a general strike to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into agreeing to a deal to bring Israeli hostages in Gaza home. Over the weekend, massive protests swept the country following the death of six hostages in Gaza. Crowds estimated by Israeli media to number up to 500,000 strong demonstrated in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and other cities. Follow the latest on the war. Elections around the world German state elections that dealt a blow to the parties in Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government and historic wins for two anti-establishment parties are likely to aggravate instability in an already fractious ruling coalition.
