How Israel saved a hostage rescue mission from failure . . . The two Israeli commando teams had just pulled off a historic rescue mission, freeing four hostages from homes where they were held captive in central Gaza. Now came the hardest part: getting out of Gaza alive. A shootout that started Saturday in one of the homes expanded into a full-on gunbattle on the packed streets of Nuseirat between the commandos and responding Israeli forces and militants, the Israeli military said. With the teams' cover blown, the Israeli Air Force began striking dozens of militant targets in a bid to divert Hamas's attention and give the hostages a fighting chance to get out. In the crossfire, a vehicle packed with special forces and hostages was hit and disabled, said David Tsur, the former commander of Yamam, the Israeli police team that carried out the extraction. An Israeli armored vehicle then swooped in to rescue the rescuers, but it too was disabled by fire, so another force arrived to deliver the hostages to helicopters waiting to take them to Israel. Gaza journalist who wrote for Al Jazeera was holding 3 hostages in home with family . . . A Gaza journalist who wrote for Al Jazeera was holding three hostages in his home with his family before he was killed by Israeli commandos during a rescue operation on Saturday, according to the Israeli military. Abdallah Aljamal, who also worked as a spokesman for the Hamas-run labor ministry, was killed when special forces soldiers stormed his home in central Gaza and rescued hostages Almog Meir Jan, 21, Andri Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 41, the Israeli military said. Ex-intel officials defend signing 'patriotic' letter against Hunter Biden laptop . . . Dozens of former intelligence officials who signed a letter warning Hunter Biden's infamous laptop "has all the classic earmarks" of Russian disinformation are either declining to retract or saying the did the right thing despite the device being entered as evidence in his ongoing criminal trial. Fox News Digital reached out to all 51 individuals who signed the heavily scrutinized October 2020 letter, published just before the 2020 presidential election, asking if they regretted signing it now that the laptop is being used by the prosecution arguing Hunter committed a federal gun crime. "No," former Obama Director of National Intelligence James Clapper simply said. Mark S. Zaid, an attorney representing some signatories claimed it was "patriotic" to sign it. Fox News
Technically, they said in the letter that they weren't certain it was Russian disinfo. But they must have known the practical effect it would have on the election: People assumed they were dismissing it.

Comer teases 'imminent report' on criminal allegations against Biden . . . Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) predicted that a report would be released "very soon" listing criminal allegations against President Joe Biden. "I think that it's no secret that Joe Biden's committed many crimes, and I think that you're going to see a report very soon. That report is imminent," Comer said. Washington Examiner

Biden locks up pro-lifers while hundreds of violent pro-abortion cases go unprosecuted . . . The Biden administration has been busy prosecuting pro-lifers since the overturn of Roe v. Wade two years ago, but dozens of attacks on pregnancy centers and churches remain unprosecuted. In the two years since the leak of the Supreme Court Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision, pro-life churches and pregnancy centers have been vandalized, broken into, threatened and even firebombed by pro-abortion activists. While only prosecuting a handful of individuals involved in these attacks, the Department of Justice has occupied its time by imprisoning pro-lifers who protest at abortion clinics. Daily Caller

Kamala Harris grieves for 'innocent' Palestinians killed in Israeli raid to save hostages . . . Vice President Kamala Harris mourned the Palestinian civilians killed in an Israeli hostage rescue operation. "On Oct. 7, Hamas committed a brutal massacre of 1,200 innocent people and abducted 250 hostages," Harris said in Michigan."Thankfully, four of those hostages were reunited with their families tonight. And we mourn all of the innocent lives that have been lost in Gaza, including those tragically killed today." Washington Examiner
The deaths are tragic. But how about delivering a passionate criticism of Hamas, which is responsible for the casualties because it purposely held hostages in an area teeming with civilians? Harris made the remarks in Michigan, where the Biden campaign is desperately trying to appease Arab voters.
Momentum grows behind Democratic boycott of Netanyahu speech . . . A growing chorus of House Democrats say they're planning to steer clear of next month's speech by Benjamin Netanyahu before a joint meeting of Congress, arguing that the Israeli prime minister's handling of the Hamas War — and his repeated snubbing of President Biden's preferred approach to the conflict — demand a show of protest from liberals on Capitol Hill. "I won't attend and turn my back towards him," Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) said. "So I'm just gonna stay away." The Hill
Would they boycott Xi Xinping, who is running concentration camps for Uighurs in China? The speech is set for July 24.
Pro-Hamas agitators surround White House, call for killing more Jews . . . Protesters harassed police officers who were deployed to keep chaos to a minimum, chasing them across Lafayette Park while chanting "these f—ing pigs have got to go." "Kill pigs," a protester wrote in large red graffiti, in reference to police officers. In the aftermath of the demonstrations, Lafayette Park was left littered with trash and vandalized with calls for the genocide of Jews. On one statue, the protesters wrote "Death to Amerikkka," "Death to Israel," and "Death to Zionists!" Protesters also commended Hamas and wrote the actions of the terror organization were "justified." Washington Free Beacon

Most Hispanics back national program to deport illegal aliens . . . A strong majority of registered voters, including most Hispanics, would support a national program to deport illegal aliens from the United States, according to a CBS News/YouGov poll. The poll, published Sunday, found that 62 percent of registered voter respondents would back "a new national program to deport all undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S. illegally." Thirty-eight percent of voters would oppose such a program. A majority of 53 percent of Hispanics would support the deportation of illegal aliens en masse, while 47 percent would be against it. Abbott: No change at border since new Biden policy . . . Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Sunday to Fox News there has been no discernable change at the border since President Joe Biden's June 4, 2024 executive order targeting immigration, claiming it's "accelerating" migrant crossings instead. "Listen, people need to understand that what Biden has done, he's not doing anything to actually secure the border. In fact, it's the opposite because he's actually authorizing more people to cross the border illegally. And think about this: when you get to that 2,500 number of people crossing the border a day that he says he will allow, but only then stop the asylum process, when he stops the asylum process, there's nothing that Biden is doing that actually is preventing anybody else from crossing the border." Conservatives make major gains in EU elections . . . The European Union's parliamentary elections resulted in major victories for right-wing parties in what could be a growing trend across the continent. The National Rally party in France stood with over 30% of the vote as of 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, more than double French President Emmanuel Macron's Renaissance party. National Rally is led by Marine Le Pen, who ran against Macron to be president in 2017 and 2022. The party's principles include "putting an end to settlement immigration" and allowing companies to increase wages by 10%. Macron responded to the rout by dissolving his country's National Assembly and announcing a snap legislative election to be held within the next 30 days. Washington Examiner

Israelis on front line say Biden peace plan forcing them to fight a forever war . . . More than half a dozen war-weary Israeli reserve soldiers from across the country told the Washington Free Beacon that Biden's diplomacy is actually dragging out the Gaza war he is pressing Israel to bring to an end. By restraining Israel, they said, Biden is preventing the Jewish state from defeating or deterring its genocidal enemies. "It's very frustrating," said Snir Tal, 24, a reservist in an elite Israel Defense Forces commando unit. Tal saw two of his best friends killed during six months of service in the war in the Gaza Strip. "It feels like all our work and all our losses were for nothing." "I don't think Biden really understands this neighborhood," said Emil Grishpun, 40, a Finance Ministry official and infantry reservist. Washington Free Beacon

Wall Street titans shake off qualms and embrace Trump . . . Wall Street executives spent three years doing everything they could to distance themselves from former President Donald Trump. Now they're busy coming up with reasons to vote for the guy. Today, they're setting aside those concerns, looking past qualms about his personality and willingness to bulldoze institutional norms and focusing instead on issues closer to the heart: how he might ease regulations, cut their taxes or flex U.S. power on the global stage. "I don't know that anyone really believed he was a threat to democracy," said Hal Lambert, an investor and Republican donor. Politico
Trump promises not to tax tips . . . Presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced that tips earned by service workers will not be taxed if he is re-elected president of the United States. "This is the first time I've said this, and for those hotel workers and people that get tips, you're gonna be very happy. Because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips, people making tips," Trump told a large audience in Las Vegas. Daily Caller

Black Lives Matter bleeds clash as cofounder's family rakes it in . . . Black Lives Matter cofounder Patrisse Cullors resigned from the embattled charity in 2021, but the charity suffered from the excesses of her tenure well into 2023, according to a copy of its latest tax return obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. Under Cullors's leadership, Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation doled out massive contracts to her friends and family, purchased a $6 million mansion in Los Angeles in 2020, and financed the purchase of an $8 million mansion in Canada in 2021. By the end of its 2023 fiscal year, the tax forms show, Black Lives Matter saw the $80 million windfall it raked in during the George Floyd riots of 2020 diminish to under $29 million as it hemorrhaged cash fulfilling lingering contractual obligations to Cullors's associates. Incredible footage shows Florida sniper shoot hostage-holding bank robber . . . Newly released footage from Florida police shows the incredible moment a sniper shot a bank robber, with the bullet traveling through a desktop computer and between two hostages before fatally striking the suspect. The scene unfolded February 6 when a 36-year-old man attempted to rob a Fort Myers Bank of America, and took two people hostage inside an office of the bank after police closed in on him. The suspect had told cops he had a bomb on him and crouched behind the hostages — using them as human shields — as a negotiator tried to get him to surrender. New York Post
