2024 is going to be a momentous year. There are important elections in many parts of the world and the horrors being wrought in Ukraine and Gaza show no sign of ending. Meanwhile, the climate crisis continues apace and political processes are under threat from populism and dark money.

openDemocracy is an international news organisation with an international audience and we have some important decisions to make about what stories we tell this year. When we're making choices like this, the views of our readers around the world are very important to us. Will you please take this short survey to let us know what you think about openDemocracy, world events and the news you want to see? The results will be very useful indeed.

Yes, I'll share my views

There's never been more need for openDemocracy's work. In just the past couple of weeks our journalists have broken these major stories:

We've exposed the extent to which the "abusive" legacy of a Nigerian megachurch boss lives on from Lagos to London.
We've reported on claims that more than a hundred schoolchildren and university students in the UK have faced "harsh repression and censorship" – including referrals to a government-led counter-terrorism programme – for displaying support for Palestine.
We've revealed that a Tory donor and former director of the tech giant implicated in the UK Post Office scandal was rewarded with a job running the government's broadband rollout – three years after his old firm was found to be at fault.

And it's going to be an exciting year for openDemocracy. We've just appointed a new editor-in-chief, the award-winning Aman Sethi, who was previously deputy executive editor of HuffPost.

But as we face the year we know that our work means nothing without the readers we serve. That's why it's so important that you take this survey to tell us about your views and priorities.
