The Blackburn Report: Saluting Our Brave Veterans

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqtA5r3Rwts

At the 11th hour on November 11th, all Americans should pause and commemorate our brave servicemembers and all veterans who have served. Tennessee is home to over 400,000 veterans, and it’s an honor each day to ensure they have the care and support they deserve. This Veterans Day, I hope you will join me in thanking the brave men and women who answered the call of duty.

Weekly Rundown
Under President Biden’s open border policies we are witnessing a devastating humanitarian crisis, and children are the primary victims. This week, I introduced the Preventing the Recycling of Immigrants is Necessary for Trafficking Suspension (PRINTS) Act to combat trafficking and child recycling by giving U.S. Customs and Border Patrol the authority to fingerprint non-citizens under the age of 14. I also met members of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) to discuss the importance of border security.

For years, Big Tech companies have put profit over the well-being of children online. Arturo Béjar, a whistleblower who worked at Meta for several years, came forward to Senator Blumenthal and me, becoming the second Meta employee to blow the whistle on the company’s detrimental impact on minors. Béjar testified in front of a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee and exposed how leaders at Meta specifically ignored the harm to kids and teens on their platforms. These revelations underscore the need to swiftly pass my bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act.

The potential for AI to transform our society and economy is becoming more apparent every day. We need to ensure that as AI systems evolve, we also improve the trustworthiness of those used by federal agencies. I introduced legislation, the TEST AI Act, to improve the federal government’s capacity to test and evaluate AI systems. This bill will help our national labs such as Oak Ridge collaborate with other federal government departments to test and evaluate AI systems.
