House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) is expected to endorse an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden in a closed-door meeting with House Republicans this week.
McCarthy plans to tell those present that the move is the “logical next step” in the Republican Party’s probes of Biden and his son Hunter’s alleged influence peddling schemes, Punchbowl News reported Tuesday.
At the private meeting set for Thursday morning, House Judiciary Committee chair Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) and House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R., Ky.) will each provide an update regarding their respective investigations into the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.
McCarthy plans to say that the two chairs have uncovered enough information that necessitates the House formalizing the impeachment inquiry in order to obtain the Biden’s bank records and other documents.
