| | | Oppenheimer: A Dire Warning About America’s Decaying Political Climate | | Tom Sileo | | August 11, 2023 | As I watched Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece Oppenheimer, all I could think about was a scenario similar to World War II playing out in America’s current political climate. The date is January 20, 2025. Frustrated by his military’s latest setback and afraid of losing his grip on power, Russian president Vladimir Putin decides to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Our country’s newly-elected president must then decide whether to strike back, which would undoubtedly plunge much of the world into nuclear holocaust. Putting your personal political beliefs aside, are you confident that America’s 46th president, Joe Biden, is capable of handling such a monumental crisis and coordinating an international response given his advanced age and communication struggles? Are you confident that our nation’s 45th president, Donald Trump, could do the same considering his increasingly erratic behavior and frequent social media meltdowns? Continue Reading... |

| | | | | | Serious Question: Are You and I Living Inside a Computer Simulation? | | Tom Gilson | | August 11, 2023 | Atheists and skeptics keep trying to take out Christianity. They keep failing. A leftist activist named Ed Krassenstein posted a list of challenges to Christians on Twitter a while back. I covered the first one already, and found some bone fide kookiness in it. You might think his second one is crazy, too: “How do you know that we aren’t living in a giant simulation created by entities in another dimension, universe, or planet, and that they are the real ‘God(s)?’” Kooky? Draw your own conclusions. On the fringe? No, not this time. This one’s actually serious. It was birthed at the University of Oxford, it’s been developed by thinkers around academia, and it has surprising support behind it. Elon Musk says odds are “billions to one” in favor of its being true, even though it would make our world less real than The Matrix. Continue Reading... |

| | | | | The Toxic Legacy of Megan Rapinoe | | Joseph D'Hippolito | | August 14, 2023 | Rarely in professional sports — if ever — has one player almost single-handedly destroyed the widespread respect and admiration her team built over more than three decades. By doing so, that player worsened the ongoing conflict in the nation her team represents. Megan Rapinoe, a midfielder who represented the United States in women’s soccer for 17 years, will be remembered for more than her two Women’s World Cup titles, her Olympic gold medal and her FIFA award as the world’s best female player in 2019. She even will be remembered for more than the penalty kick she missed Aug. 6, as the United States lost to Sweden in the Round of 16 at this year’s tournament. No, Megan Rapinoe will be remembered for turning the national women’s soccer team into a personal political plaything, for contaminating team morale and for alienating large segments of the team’s fan base — in many cases, permanently. | | | The Left Is Using the Nazi Playbook for Taking Power | | John Zmirak | | August 14, 2023 | A real, nearly successful attempt to murder Brett Kavanaugh over the reversal of Roe v. Wade results in … a peaceful arrest. A morbidly obese, immobile old man who recklessly issues threats on Facebook gets … killed by the feds. Now of course, nobody wants to endorse even empty threats against public officials, and the death of Robertson needs to be thoroughly investigated. But think of how the Left would have reacted if Trump’s FBI had gunned down, say, Kathy Griffin, then treated with kid gloves some armed, would-be assassin of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Would have raised a few eyebrows, don’t you think? Let’s keep in mind what else has happened in the past few years, how the George Floyd rioters went unpunished, and are now winning civil settlements against the police who stopped them from burning and looting our cities. But peaceful January 6 protestors still languish in prison, or die by suicide — under the condemnation of former President George W. Bush, who called them the “children of the same foul spirit” as the 9/11 hijackers. What's happening here? Continue Reading... |
