On the menu today: We begin with the particular and political and move on to the big-picture philosophical. The Florida state legislature is wrapping up its work today, leaving Governor Ron DeSantis's schedule freed up so he can begin his widely expected bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. DeSantis faces a slightly steeper uphill climb than at the beginning of the year, as former president Donald Trump furiously denounced him while the governor was partially tied down trying to get his agenda passed. The country is in rough shape, and solving its problems is going to take a lot more than a different president. The last few years have dug American society into a deep and dark hole, and the only way to dig ourselves out of this mess is to rebuild our old sense of civic engagement and those societal institutions.
What to Expect from — and out of — the 2024 Primary
Today is the last day of the Florida legislative session.
Everyone expects that sometime soon, likely this month ...
