The Blackburn Report: The Migrant Crisis Is Getting Worse

The southern border is in crisis mode. Since Joe Biden took office, Border Patrol has apprehended roughly 3.6 million illegal immigrants at our southern border. To put that number into perspective, that is more than half of Tennessee’s entire population trying to disappear into the country with the approval of the Biden administration. In addition, law enforcement has caught 78 suspected terrorists trying to cross our border in this fiscal year alone. Instead of turning them away, the Biden administration is releasing them into the country. Despite what this administration preaches, their open border policies are anything but humane. Families and children are being exploited by cartels that are profiting from the Biden administration’s open border policies. Border security is national security and under the Biden administration, we have neither.

We must fund the police! I introduced the Restoring Law and Order Act to ensure state and local law enforcement agencies have the resources needed to combat violent crime and process DNA evidence like rape kits. This legislation will help our brave law enforcement officers hunt down violent criminals and keep Tennesseans safe.
	Teachers’ unions have made it clear they will put their woke priorities ahead of student wellbeing every chance they get. I introduced legislation to end the National Education Association (NEA)’s federal charter in response to reports of teachers' unions spying on parents, forcing teachers to go on strike, and fighting to keep schools closed.
There have been deeply concerning reports of a transgender clinic at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center performing life-altering surgeries on minors for profit. If true, this is child abuse. There is nothing healthy about mutilating the bodies of minor children. I have called for an immediate investigation into the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
	At this week’s Tennessee Tuesday, Senator Bill Hagerty and I enjoyed meeting with students and teachers from SkillsUSA to discuss the significance of career and technical education. These bright students are part of the school's Washington Leadership Training Institute and are preparing for careers in our nation’s workforce. We are incredibly proud of them!
