Breaking: Armed Man Who Allegedly Threatened FBI Field Office Dead after Standoff

An armed man was fatally shot by police on Thursday after allegedly trying to break into the FBI field office in Cincinnati, Ohio, and leading the police in a vehicle pursuit, which was followed by a standoff.

“At approximately 9 a.m. this morning an armed subject attempted to breach the Visitor Screen Facility at #FBI Cincinnati,” FBI Cincinnati said in a tweet. “After an alarm and a response by FBI special agents, the subject fled north onto Interstate 71.”

After the man fled from the FBI field office, state troopers located his vehicle, a Ford Crown Victoria, near the northbound Interstate 71 rest area around 9:37 a.m., a spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed to National Review in a statement on Thursday.

Troopers got behind the vehicle, and the suspect fled. A pursuit ensued, and the suspect is believed to have fired a shot from his vehicle.

The man led officers on a chase until 9:53 a.m., when he stopped in Clinton County, Ohio, got out of his vehicle, and exchanged gunfire with officers, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Police tried to negotiate with the suspect and attempted to approach him to take him into custody but were unsuccessful, according to WLWT.

The suspect then raised his firearm at the officers, and the officers fired, killing him on the scene, according to the outlet.

Clinton County Emergency Management Agency officials reportedly told WLWT 5 that the man was wearing body armor.
