Breaking: Explosion Erupts Outside Kabul Airport, Pentagon Says

An explosion erupted outside the eastern Abbey gate at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan Thursday, the Pentagon said Thursday morning.

Gunfire is also reportedly being exchanged by forces on the ground, although the affiliations and identities are still unknown. Casualties and fatalities resulted, eye witnesses told Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwary, who reports for the BBC.
