Debate Over July Fourth DC Festivities Shows How Out of Touch Elites Are

Jul 04, 2019

Happy Independence Day from Washington, where many of us are happy to check out the tanks and other armored vehicles that President Trump invited to town to celebrate the preservation of our freedoms. Others don't see it that way, but they're perhaps a little shortsighted, veterans Tom Spoehr and John Cooper write in separate commentaries. We've also got star-spangled pieces from Lee Edwards, Carson Holloway, and Kay Coles James. All this plus our podcast on the festivities and problematic women in U.S. history. Enjoy the holiday weekend. Morning Bell returns Monday.

We highlight problematic women such as Abigail Adams, Ida B. Wells, Susan B. Anthony, Phyllis Schlafly, and, of course, Betsy Ross.

I love America not only because we've grown to rectify many of our wrongs, but also because we've been an incredibly positive force for good.
