It is a privilege to act as a co-chairman of this year's Buckley Prize Dinner and to be part of an evening honoring two of our truly great Americans, Secretary George Shultz and Michael Grebe, director emeritus of the Bradley Foundation, with whom I have been privileged to be a colleague at the Hoover Institution and the Bradley Foundation. The National Review enterprise is committed to the same American ideals of freedom, democracy, and American exceptionalism that Secretary Shultz and Michael Grebe have promoted and protected throughout their distinguished careers. I hope you can join us in honoring both of these distinguished Americans.

Sincerely,

Join the NR family next month in California

National Review Institue's third annual
William F. Buckley Jr. Prize Dinner
San Francisco's City Hall
Thursday, September 22

Join Rich Lowry, Peter Thiel, Roger Kimball, Charlie Sykes, and the rest of the NR family
as we honor Bill Buckley's legacy, National Review's enduring, powerful impact, and the leadership of our two esteemed prize recipients:
The Honorable George P. Shultz and Michael W. Grebe.

There is much to celebrate at this year's fall gala, including will the accomplishments of our friends. At the gala, two William F. Buckley Jr. Prizes recognizing exemplary leadership will be awarded. The prize for Leadership in Political Thought will be awarded to former Secretary of State George P. Shultz, recognizing his central role in helping defeat Soviet Communism alongside Ronald Reagan. The second prize, for Leadership in Supporting Liberty, which recognizes conservative philanthropy, will be awarded to Michael W. Grebe, President and CEO of The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation -one of our nation's most significant and influential foundations championing our democratic-capitalism system (a system in which Bill Buckley deeply believed and which he spent his entire life defending and promoting)-with whom the National Review enterprise has a historic and ongoing relationship.

Please know that by supporting the WFB Jr. Prize Dinner, you will help the Institute carry out Bill Buckley's directive that NRI complement the mission of National Review magazine.

Preserving and promoting the legacy of William F. Buckley Jr.

The National Review Institute was founded by William F. Buckley Jr. in 1991, 36 years after he founded National Review magazine. The Institute is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), charitable organization, established to complement its sister organization, National Review, by engaging in policy development, public education, and advocacy to advance the conservative principles Mr. Buckley championed.
