| Dear Friend, On this Christmas Day, we wish you true peace, joy, and happiness. Today we share the 7th of 10 reasons why NR deserves your support.
Number 7: The fact that you can still enjoy much of Bill Buckley's writing on NRO. Bill's acclaimed program, Firing Line, had a delightful Christmas tradition, to rerun his classic 1981 interview with Malcolm Muggeridge on "How Does One Find Faith?" After you digest your figgy pudding, I recommend you take a few minutes to watch this clip from the program. Albeit brief you will enjoy seeing two giant intellects talking. (It's borderline crazy to think that in my lifetime I spoke to both, and knew one rather well.) On this day of giving, of course we give thanks to many people who are at NR's side over the years, whether as subscribers, donors, gift-subscription givers, even NR mug buyers! As for you: We hope you might also consider giving to NR. We're working hard to raise $25,000 these last 10 days of 2015. Every penny we make will be put into our (very cost-effective!) social-media outreach effort. We've had phenomenal success with our social media this year, but we need to do much more in 2016, and that will take money. Will you help us spread the word of NR? The consequence of NR? The intelligence and wit and wisdom and sanity of NR? Especially if you come to NRO frequently, I ask you to please help our cause and contribute to our Social Media Outreach Project. No contribution is too small: Your donation of $25, $50, $100 or more will play a big part in helping us. Those of you who come to NR early and often, those of you who know how important National Review is to the cause of freedom, get in the Webathon spirit, and send your favorite conservative website a contribution. To date we have raised some $12,000. I'll continue to keep you posted how our Social Media Outreach Project. A Merry Christmas to you and yours, and, should you not celebrate this day, we offer you still our very best wishes and an abundance of the special graces that do seem to come at this time. A left-wing writer and racial-justice activist who has claimed that American society was "instituted by racist ideas and maintained by racist policies" published a black history book for kids earlier this year that appears to be filled with content plagiarized from other sources, according to a review of the book by National Review . Confronted with the apparent plagiarism, the book’s publisher said it would be pulled from circulation pending an investigation. Rann Miller, a New Jersey-based activist and educator, published Resistance Stories from Black History for Kids in March. According to the book, it is designed to be a "place of entry" into the history of the African people so readers will be "empowered to fight" injustices in the world. Miller, a former teacher who has both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Rutgers University, also writes opinion pieces for the Philadelphia Inquirer , the Progressive Magazine, and education websites
