Obama Out of Touch
When it comes to foreign policy, Mitt Romney says, “I think the president is really out of touch with reality.”  Do you agree?

On “Fox News Sunday,” Mitt Romney delivered the painful truth when it comes to Obama's handling of foreign policy, particularly the rise of ISIS.  Romney said, “I think the president is really out of touch with reality.  He’s so out of touch with reality that he hasn’t taken the necessary steps. ... He’s too busy on the golf course. I don’t know if you can see the reality from the fairway, but he doesn’t see reality."

Romney is absolutely right.  Barack Obama has known about the rise of ISIS for over a year.  He received detailed daily briefings on this issue.  Yet we admittedly don't have a strategy yet to deal with this?

Apparently Obama finally got the hint that not having a strategy wasn't exactly the best message to telegraph to the American people, our allies or our enemies.  Obama will lay out his plan in a speech this week to deal with ISIS.  He's already told the enemy what he won't do, so can we really expect much to change from this administration?

So far we know that Obama has assembled a coalition of nine countries that are willing to coordinate in efforts to address ISIS.  The New York Times reports, “Mr. Obama said the effort would rely on American airstrikes against its leaders and positions, strengthen the moderate Syrian rebel groups to reclaim ground lost to ISIS, and enlist friendly governments in the region to join the fight.”

The president insists that there will be no U.S. boots on the ground.  Obama also can't even yet decide on whether the U.S. will engage in airstrikes in Syria, which Senator Marco Rubio says we “absolutely” must do.  But will those three efforts outlined above be enough to defeat ISIS, if that's even our goal? (continue reading)

Obama's Optics
Barack Obama regrets the “optics” of going golfing after making a statement on the beheading of American journalist James Foley by ISIS, but he doesn't seem to regret actually going golfing.

In an interview with Meet the Press, Obama told NBC's Chuck Todd that he “should've anticipated the optics.”  Perhaps the president should consider the optics of his entire presidency?  This isn't the first time where the president has been seemingly tone deaf to his actions, whether it's playing golf or heading to fundraisers at questionable times.

Obama also claims that he is not very good at political theatre.  More accurately, he says it doesn't always come naturally to him.  It's amazing to hear him say this, considering this was all his campaigns and presidency was about for so long.  He was virtually all show and nothing to actually show for it.  Now we seem to have neither.

Obama also lamented the fact that he can't have a vacation without the press around.  Well I'm sorry, Mr. President, but this is kind of the gig you signed up for.  He's the one who chose to go on his vacation while we have chaos happening around the world.  That's part of being president.  You can't pick and choose when you want to lead or be absent; sometimes the world demands American leadership, and it doesn't adhere to the president's vacation schedule.
