Another Shooting in a Gun Free Zone in a Gun Control State

Another Shooting in a Gun Free Zone in a Gun Control State

Details are still light on this incident, but we thought we should go ahead and address some of the facts that we do know.

We know that a lone gunman (widely reported to have been armed with an AR-15, but we'll see how that plays out) entered LAX and shot several people, killing one.

Los Angeles Airport Police engaged the suspect, shooting, and killing him.

The LA Times was reporting that the suspect was either a current or former TSA agent. However, they just recently published the following update to that,

A federal law enforcement official said that the gunman was a ticketed passenger entering the airport. Officials don't believe the gunman has ever worked for TSA. Law enforcement sources had earlier told The Times the gunman was a TSA employee.

What we also know is that this is the latest active shooter incident to occur in a gun free zone (LAX airport) in city where it is nearly impossible for law abiding citizens to get carry permits (Los Angeles) in a state that has the strictest gun control laws in the nation.

At a press conference, officials would not confirm the identity of the suspect or possible victims. The chief of Airport Police did say that an "assault rifle," his words, not ours, was used in the shooting.

More details as they come in.
