Want to bet these two will do it again? As soon as they get out of the hospital (treated at taxpayers' expense), they'll be right back at it.

Remember, Bernhard Goetz? The "subway vigilante" who shot four black men who attempted to rob him on a NY subway back in 1984? Well, he shot four. One was paralyzed from he waist down and will live the rest of his life in a wheelchair (also treated and supported with taxpayers' money). The other three muggers survived and recovered.

Want to guess which one of the four perps is the only one that was NOT arrested for subsequent crimes?

@LuscombeFlyer   I see you only bet on sure things LF.  Bernie Goetz, one of my all time favorite heros.  He put the NYPD in a curious position, much like Charles Bronson's role in  Death Wish.

I still just love the fact that all the jury would convict Goetz of was possession of an unregistered weapon - I wouldn't have convicted him of that.

While I applaud Mr. Piert's action to defend his house and family by using a gun against 2 teen thugs, I just can't help to wonder if he was white would he be labeled a racist today?

In fact if I recall correctly, I liked your post earlier when you used Reagan's famous words on freedom never being more than one generation away from extinction.

Why is this news?  Could it be that it appears to be an upscale African-American neighborhood.  Just three possible sons of the president riding around in a stolen car looking for free stuff for themselves. Oh I get it productive people have values and want to protect their property.  The lines are blurred!

Notice the teen wasn't wearing his cold, rainy night uniform, the hoodie, rather he was sporting his daytime, summer obligatory dress code inspired pants way down yonder.  Gots ta be showin the underwear to be cool.  Should make it easier to meet new friends in jail.

@NYGino@NYGino  Should make it much more difficult to get away from a guy with a gun too. They be trippin' the light fantastic as those baggies get all tangled up in their little leggies. There's a word that describes these daring young up and comers.

@Conniption Fitz Exactly. Ayoob is the expert whose writing I consult most often. A highly intelligent firearms trainer and much more.

During the brief time I was an NRA certified trainer, my answer to the question of "what gun" was: buy the best quality you can afford and still have money left for ammo, buy an action type that you can operate and maintain easily, buy the most powerful caliber you are not afraid to shoot.
