On January 28th, 2011 I took to the air and told you that I had real concerns about the US foreign policy strategy in Egypt. Now, I’m not one to say “I told you so” but, well, I told you so. I told you in January when the military first moved against then President Mubarak that there would be problems. I talked until I was nearly blue in the face in August of 2012 about the Muslim Brotherhood and the damage they’d done to Egypt. I balked this past Spring while the Obama Administration gave nearly $190 million in foreign aide to President Morsi and Egypt. Likewise, early in January of 2013, I begged America to listen as the Obama administration committed to sending warplanes and tanks to Egypt, offerings dedicated to “enhancing US-Egyptian relations” and instilling stability in the region. Obviously that goal fell very short. But now is not the time for “I told you so” but rather a time for what do we do next. What we do next is stop following the Obama non-confrontation doctrine and really insist that Egypt be able to exercise real democracy. It’s clear from the protests that democracy is what is most desired by the young progressive movement and it’s one that we should be encouraging. Hopefully the left is listening to what I have to say, even if they don’t want to admit I was right. A Very Funny Neal Boortz I’ve been spending some much needed time with my family this week and my friend Neal Boortz filled in for me today. He was hilarious! One of the things he brought up was a July 4th commercial by Samuel Adams where the Massachusetts beer company quoted the Declaration of Independence but left out the words “inalienable rights endowed by their creator.” Samuel Adams responded to criticisms by saying that mentioning God would have violated beer advertising ethics. As Boortz so eloquently put it, “Oh, so there’s a piece of paper with beer advertising ethics that trumps the Declaration of Independence!” We shouldn’t be surprised by this story but we should be sad. | Zimmerman Recap For those of you who are fans of my radio show, you know that I’ve focused a lot of my attention these past few weeks on the George Zimmerman trial. You know that I feel strongly that this entire case is based on a simple and tragic misunderstanding and that more lives are in the balance as a jury listens to arguments and ultimately decides the fate of George Zimmerman. I’ve spent a lot of time covering this case, I’ve had the chance to sit down with George and his father and others who’ve all helped me really dig into the facts. As Trayvon Martin’s mother took the stand today, I realized even more that this was a tragic misunderstanding. You can take a look at this page on Hannity.com for a full breakdown of the Zimmerman case and you can see how we’ve slowly put the pieces together to help explain what happened. Today's "Hot Topic" From the Hannity Forums: Unemployment Numbers Are The Same - Posted by Ryooper I get frustrated by those who talk about the unemployment numbers that came out today as a good sign. I've heard everyone on the left today say that the worst is over and that the unemployment numbers haven't increased! It's like a firefighter coming to the seen of a house that has completely burned to the ground and telling the family that the fireplace is still completely working. We need people back to work and plus, how many have just given up? When jobs are easy to come by I'll believe we're on the upswing. >>TV Tonight (9pm ET on Fox News) African-American conservatives sound off on the hottest social and political topics in a must see one hour special. |
